This is Me

Joyful, Quirky, Unapologetically Human

My Journey

My soul is a creative one, and it has been from the start - curious, unstoppable, and never to be shushed! From writing poetry and stories at school, to making skiing snowmen from pine cones, learning chocolate making, pottery, glass, enamelling, knitting (only dishcloths), and lino printing early on (with a scar on my hand to prove it!).

I have always loved to creatively explore and that's never left me .

Then when I did my degree in set, prop, and costume design, I fell in love with storytelling and immersive experiences. And over the last decade, I’ve led creative workshops for adults with mental health and learning challenges, supported exhibitions, and guided community arts programs — blending creativity with emotional insight, and making art that feels meaningful.

Taking the Leap

In 2024, I took the leap into self-employment to pour my energy fully into Daisy Age Art — my art, my workshops, and the  freedom to follow my creative heart .  Alongside this, I run a private counselling practice here in York, and I love how the two worlds blend, when therapy and creativity dance, magic happens!

The Daisy Age Ethos

All my work is rooted in the ethos of the “Daisy Age,” a movement sparked by De La Soul’s legendary album 3 Feet High and Rising. In a time when hip-hop was dominated by gritty, hyper-masculine themes, De La Soul — with the help of the British punk art collective Grey Organisation — brought something radically different: color, creativity, humour, and heart.

The  “Daisy Age” (short for “da inner sound y’all”) wasn’t just a vibe, it was a rebellion against the expected. It was about finding beauty in the unexpected, joy in everyday moments, and art in the playful chaos of life. That same spirit runs through everything I create.

Layer Upon Layer, That’s the Magic

Step inside my world of making for a moment… It usually begins with a flicker of a story or a feeling. Then comes the fun part: gathering and layering original prints, old photos, fabrics, scraps of paper, pastels, you name it. It’s hands-on, playful, sometimes a bit chaotic, and  very much a “more is more” kind of process  — more colour, more layers, more life. At some point, symbols sneak in, connections form, and suddenly there it is: a tiny universe, buzzing with memory, meaning, and a bit of magic.

I Don't Do Frames

Instead, my pieces live in recycled tins, matchboxes, and wooden boxes — nostalgic, surprising little worlds you can hold in your hands.  Think pop-up book meets soul shrine .  They’re small, one-of-a-kind, and perfect for nooks, crannies, and the curious corners of life.

At its core, my work is about connection through storytelling. I love hearing the stories my art stirs up in others — the memories, the laughter, the “oh wow, me too” moments. My art may be deeply personal, but it’s never just for me. It’s made to be shared.
